Chamomile

A member of the Asteraceae family, Chamomile is a variety of daisy-like plants, the most abundant being German Chamomile (Marticaria Recutita) and Roman Chamomile Chamaemelum Nobile). It has been valued for thousands of years for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile may be used as a salve, vapor, poultice, and tea.

Drinking Chamomile tea may treat lumbago, rheumatic ailments, and rashes. It has long been around for its calming, muscle relaxing, and sedative affects. In combination with other beneficial herbs, it tends help balance their attributes. It is used as a sleep aid, fever and cold treatment, and to help with stomach problems. It has internal and external anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile is also indicated as an anti-spasmodic and anti allergen.

The Salve form of Chamomile may be applied to wounds, and hemorrhoids. As a poultice, it may be used as a compress for skin irritations, such as bug bites and rashes. Its vapor form is helpful in soothing cold symptoms and asthma.
