Devil's Claw

Devils Claw

Native to South Africa and named after it’s mysterious fruit, the Devil’s Claw has roots in herbal medicine.  The roots of the Devil’s claw are used to treat a variety of conditions, ranging from arthritis, fever, pain and indigestion.  It is an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, indicated for appetite loss, digestion, degeneration of locomotor systems, and useful in the prevention of gout.

Studies have shown that the Devil’s Claw is useful in reducing the pain of osteoarthritis in the knee and hip, just about as effectively as some of the medication prescribed for such conditions.

Though it has many benefits, the Devil is in the details.  It may increase health risks for individuals with existing heart conditions, diabetes, gallstones, and stomach ulcers.
