The bark of the Magnolia tree contains two types of neolignans, a class of polyphenol micronutrients. These include magnolol and honokiol, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Recent studies have suggested that they may have anticancer antimicrobial benefits as well. The leaves and flowers of the tree have beneficial properties; however, they are utilized less frequently.
